Experiences

Turkey is full of inspiring sights, from the ancient port city of Ephesus to Bodrum’s idyllic coastline. Visit Cappadocia’s otherworldly landscape of awe-inspiring rock formations, rock cones, fairy chimneys and cave entrances that reveal subterranean cities. From Bodrum, take a relaxing cruise along the rugged Aegean coast in a traditional sail boat or gulet. Escape to the ‘green city’ of Bursa, a land of beautiful scenery, Ottoman architecture, thermal springs and hammams. Ride the cable car to the top of Uludağ Mountain, a national park ideal for summer trekking or winter skiing. Feel cleansed and revitalised after a trip to a traditional hammam in Istanbul, a unique experience and another legacy of the Ottomans. For a more relaxing break, the great beaches, lively nightlife and national parks of Antalya, the ‘Turkish Riviera’, are hard to beat. The site of Ephesus, once a great trading city, is not only the best preserved of Turkey’s grand ruins, but the best place in the Mediterranean to get a feel for life in ancient times.

Areas of Turkey

Istanbul: For more than two millennia the domes, cupolas and minarets of Istanbul have overlooked the Bosphorus, the busy waterway that separates Asia from Europe. The Asian and European continents collide in a fascinating way and create a unique atmosphere with brilliant shopping, multicultural dining and enchanting views no matter where you are.

Bursa: Bursa lies in the foothills of the legendary Mount Olympos, known today as Uludag Mountain, and close to the Sea of Marmara. Bursa has seen Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans come and go. This 2,500 year old city was established as the first major capital of the Ottoman Empire. The green city of Bursa, is rich in scenic beauty, historic and cultural artefacts.

Trabzon: Located in a region described by some as one of the most beautiful places on earth, the picturesque Black Sea Coast city of Trabzon is best known for its dramatic vistas of the Zigana Mountains, the stunning scenery of the Ayder Plateau and the beautiful shimmering lakes of Uzungol and Sera. Flights from Istanbul to Trabzon take under two hours and are served by several domestic carriers.

Antalya and Bodrum: The Turkish Riviera stretching along the Mediterranean coast of south and western Turkey, is a lively holiday destination and it has many idyllic locations like Antalya and Bodrum where a seaside holiday can be enjoyed. Visitors appreciate its fabulous mix of great beaches, Turkish culture, fine restaurants, lively nightlife and national parks. Antalya is known because of its natural and historic beauty. It is an hour and a half flying distance from Istanbul and is served by several domestic carriers. Downtown Antalya is compact, with most of its main attractions within easy walking distance of each other. Bodrum provides a quiet, family-friendly but thriving holiday beach resort experience during the day which then transforms into a vibrant nightlife scene with numerous cafés and restaurants providing entertainment for all. Flights from Istanbul to Bodrum take around one and a half hour and are served by several domestic carriers.
