Introduction

The Great Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza may be our most iconic link to ancient civilisation. Egypt has forever been tied to its Pharaonic past, and its archaeological riches are beyond compare, but there’s more to this Arabian powerhouse: the splendour of the Nile, the boundless Western Desert, and the teeming reefs of the Red Sea.

At a glance

Emirates gateway:
Cairo International Airport

Distance from airport to city centre:
22 kilometres

Time zone: GMT +2 hours

cities. US Dollars are also widely accepted.

When to visit

Egypt’s dry desert climate means that the winter months of October to February enjoy a pleasant, warm and sunny climate. The Western Desert should be avoided during the summer months of June to August due to higher temperatures; although the Mediterranean coast is warm and pleasant this time of year. The shoulder seasons bring milder weather and smaller crowds.

Experiences

Egypt offers a timeless journey through ancient wonders, rich culture, and the majestic landscapes of the Nile and desert. Begin at the iconic pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, where the legacy of the Pharaohs comes vividly to life. Explore the vast treasures of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, home to priceless artefacts including Tutankhamun’s golden mask.

Sail along the Nile River, passing historic temples at Luxor and Aswan, and discover the impressive Valley of the Kings. Wander the colourful markets of Cairo or Alexandria, and relax on the Red Sea coast with its world-class diving and pristine beaches.

Egypt’s fascinating history, warm hospitality, and striking contrasts promise an unforgettable experience for every traveller.
