When to visit

India is an enormous country with a climate that varies dramatically from north to south. The monsoon moves across the country from south to north from May to October. The best time to visit is mid-October until March, when the climate is warm and dry in most parts of the country.

Experiences

Breathtaking landscapes, spectacular temples and resplendent palaces are surrounded by lush national parks and myriad wildlife in India. India is a place of deep spirituality, awash with sacred sites and festivals. One highlight is the Holi festival, when visitors can join thousands of revellers in playfully covering each other in coloured powder and water. Visiting India is a culinary adventure, with many regionally distinct styles of cooking to be sampled, from the tandoori meats of Punjab and Goan seafood specialities to the vegetarian thalis of Tamil Nadu. Cruise the backwaters of Kerala on a live-aboard houseboat, against a lush backdrop of jungle and rice paddies. The best known legacy of Rajasthan’s divided past is a series of magnificent hill forts adorning its hillsides in a variety of styles and coloured tones. Take a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to extend your Indian trip into the Himalayan heights of Bhutan and Nepal. Join a tour to Agra and tick off the ethereal majesty of the Taj Mahal from your bucket list.

Areas of India

Delhi: With a rich tapestry of tradition, culture and architecture, Delhi’s wide treelined avenues, imposing colonial buildings and gardens speak eloquently of its 5,000-year history. India’s capital is littered with the relics of lost empires. Modern Delhi is a chaotic mix of medieval fortifications, Mughal mausoleums and colonial-era town planning.

Mumbai: India’s financial capital, Mumbai, is a vibrant metropolis that is tangibly high in energy with a pulsating street life and a wealth of bazaars and shopping malls that will leave visitors fascinated. It is home to the glamorous Indian cinema industry Bollywood and a thriving theatrical tradition in various regional languages.

Kerala: Affectionately referred to as ‘God’s Own Country’, the state of Kerala in South India offers an enigmatic mix of beaches, palm-fringed backwaters, rolling hills and lush green forests. Kochi with its captivating mix of Chinese fishing nets and European architecture has been drawing explorers and traders to its shores for centuries while Thiruvananthapuram allows easy access to some of the most pristine beaches in the state. Festivals are true celebrations in Kerala. Be it the state festival of Onam or the one at a temple, new attire and sumptuous feasts are a must for all celebrations.
