DAY 1: MALTA - BEIJING
Your journey begins at Malta International Airport, where you’ll meet your tour manager and board your flight for Beijing. Prepare for an unforgettable adventure as you head to one of the world’s most fascinating cultural capitals.
DAY 2: BEIJING
Upon arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel, the 5* New World Hotel, where you can relax and settle in. Enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure and soak in the atmosphere of this vibrant city.
DAY 3: BEIJING
After breakfast, embark on a full-day exploration of Beijing’s rich cultural heritage. Begin with a visit to the iconic Tian’anmen Square, one of the largest public squares in the world, symbolizing the heart of modern China. It holds deep historical significance and is surrounded by impressive monuments and landmarks. From there, step into the magnificent Forbidden City, the former Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties. This sprawling complex of courtyards, halls, and pavilions, adorned with intricate designs, served as the home of Chinese emperors for nearly 500 years and is a testament to China’s regal history. The Summer Palace, often regarded as the “Museum of Royal Gardens,” was once a summer retreat for the Qing imperial family. Located in Beijing, it is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens, and palaces. Highlights include Longevity Hill, Kunming Lake, and the Seventeen Arch Bridge. Covering an area of 2.9 square kilometers—three-quarters of which is water—the complex features temples, pavilions, bridges, corridors, and gate-towers that exemplify the pinnacle of traditional Chinese landscape design. Take a leisurely stroll to admire the elegant imperial architecture, tranquil hilltop views, and shimmering lakes, which together evoke the poetic beauty of classical Chinese paintings.
Due to high demand and limited daily tickets, access to the Forbidden City during peak seasons may not always be guaranteed despite our best efforts. Should tickets be unavailable, alternative arrangements will be offered, such as visiting Jingshan Park for a panoramic view of the Forbidden City, Lama Temple, or Prince Gong’s Mansion. DAY 4: BEIJING
After breakfast start your day with a visit to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, a less crowded and well-preserved stretch of the ancient fortification. Ascend by cable car, which provides stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and lush forests. This section of the Great Wall is known for its watchtowers and steep climbs, offering a perfect balance of history and scenery. After a day filled with unforgettable sights, relax and unwind back at your hotel. Silk Street Market is a bustling shopping landmark in Beijing. Originally an open-air market, it has since been transformed into a modern shopping complex with more than 1,500 retailers. The market is popular among both locals and visitors, many of whom come to browse for souvenirs or have clothes tailor-made. It is said that former U.S. President George Bush once visited the market with his daughter to purchase silk robes. Today, Silk Street Market continues to attract shoppers from around the world with its lively atmosphere, traditional Chinese crafts, and unique shopping experiences.
DAY 5: BEIJING – XI ’AN
Following breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the station for a comfortable high-speed train journey to Xi’an. Upon arrival, explore the Ancient City Wall. Later, we’ll visit the Gao Family’s Courtyard which is one of the best preserved traditional residences in Xi’an. Hidden behind an unassuming gate in the bustling Muslim Quarter, the courtyard offers a peaceful retreat where visitors can experience traditional Chinese culture. It was once the residence of Gao Yuesong, an official in the Ming imperial court. Built entirely of brick and wood, the compound reflects the refined lifestyle and deep cultural heritage of the Gao family. The residence consists of nearly 86 rooms, 56 of which are open to the public. Don’t miss the Shadow Puppet Show, a traditional Chinese folk art in which colorful puppets are brought to life on a backlit screen to tell vivid and timeless stories. Wander through the bustling Muslim Quarter, a lively hub of street food and local culture. Check in at the 5* Wyndham Grand Xi’an South hotel.
DAY 6: XI ’AN
Today is all about Xi’an’s rich history. After breakfast we begin with a visit to the awe-inspiring Terra-Cotta Warriors, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This vast army of life-sized clay soldiers, horses, and chariots was buried over 2,000 years ago to protect China’s first emperor in the afterlife. Each figure is unique, showcasing an incredible level of craftsmanship and detail, making this one of the most remarkable archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. In the afternoon, we’ll take a leisurely stroll through the serene grounds of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. This ancient Buddhist site, originally built in the 7th century, is a significant symbol of Xi’an’s cultural heritage and a peaceful spot for reflection.
DAY 7: XI’AN – GUILIN
Breakfast and this morning, you’ll take a flight to Guilin, a city renowned for its stunning natural landscapes. Upon arrival, begin your exploration with a visit to the remarkable Reed Flute Cave. This impressive limestone cave is adorned with striking stalactites, stalagmites, and rock formations, all illuminated in a kaleidoscope of colours, creating a surreal and magical atmosphere. It’s often referred to as the “Palace of Natural Art” due to its incredible beauty. Next, visit the iconic Elephant Trunk Hill, a famous natural landmark shaped like an elephant drinking from the Li River, and a symbol of Guilin’s unique karst scenery.
The Sun and Moon Pagodas are twin pagodas located in Guilin. Originally built during the Tang dynasty in the city moat, they were reconstructed in 2001 as the centerpiece of the Sun and Moon Twin Pagodas Cultural Park, which highlights the unity of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism. The Moon Pagoda sits on an island in Shan Lake, while the Sun Pagoda stands in the lake itself. The Sun Pagoda has an octagonal base, is faced with bronze, rises nine stories, and reaches 41 meters, making it the tallest bronze pagoda in the world and one of the few pagodas equipped with an elevator. The Moon Pagoda, with an octagonal base, glazed-tile façade, seven stories, and a height of 35 meters, complements its twin beautifully. You’ll then retire to the luxurious 5* Shangri-La Hotel.
DAY 8: OUTLET MALL
After breakfast, visit the Guilin Tea Research Institute to experience traditional tea picking in the lush tea gardens. Guided by local experts, visitors can learn how to select the finest tea leaves and understand the delicate process behind producing high-quality Chinese tea. Surrounded by rolling green hills and aromatic tea plantations, this hands-on experience offers insight into the region’s rich tea culture and heritage. It is a perfect opportunity to connect with nature, enjoy the serene landscape, and gain a deeper appreciation for one of China’s most treasured beverages. Located along the picturesque Li River, Xingping Ancient Town is renowned for its well-preserved historic buildings and stunning karst landscapes.
Walking along its slate-paved streets, visitors can experience the town’s rich cultural heritage, traditional architecture, and local lifestyle. Compared with the bustling West Street in nearby Yangshuo, Xingping offers a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere. Once a busy county town, it now presents itself as a quaint village, quietly reflecting over 1,700 years of history and the vicissitudes of time. Board a traditional bamboo raft from Xingping to explore the most scenic stretch of the Li River. Drift along calm waters surrounded by dramatic karst peaks, riverside villages, and mirror-like reflections. Along the way, you can admire stone bridges, small docks, and traditional riverside houses that showcase local life.
The tranquil ride offers a chance to experience the harmony of nature and culture, with fresh river breezes and peaceful surroundings. Photographers and artists will be captivated by the misty mountains, changing light, and serene vistas. This gentle yet unforgettable journey immerses visitors in the quintessential beauty of Guilin, making it a must-do activity for anyone seeking a relaxing and picturesque adventure through one of China’s most celebrated landscapes. Participate in a traditional Chinese fan painting lesson, a hands-on cultural activity that allows you to create your own artistic design on a delicate folding fan. Guided by skilled instructors, you can learn painting techniques, explore Chinese motifs, and express your creativity.
Set against the serene landscape of this area, this experience combines art, culture, and nature, offering a memorable and interactive way to connect with traditional Chinese heritage. Upon arriving in Yangshuo, explore the vibrant West Street, a lively hub filled with markets, shops, and cafes. Known for its blend of traditional and modern culture, West Street is a fascinating place to soak in the local atmosphere.
DAY 9: GUILIN – CHONGQING – YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE
Breakfast and proceed to board a high-speed train to Chongqing, a dynamic city known as the gateway to the Yangtze River. Visit Chongqing Zoo which is one of the city’s most popular attractions and a favourite leisure spot for locals. Ranked alongside the Chengdu and Beijing zoos as one of the top places to see Giant Pandas, it is home to several rare species, including the Giant Panda and the Golden Snub nosed Monkey.
Inside the zoo, visitors can observe more than twenty lively pandas enjoying their natural behaviors— munching on bamboo, tumbling around, and playfully interacting with one another. One of the highlights is watching four pandas sitting together, happily sharing fruit—a heartwarming scene that delights visitors of all ages. Liziba Metro Station in Chongqing is a must-see urban landmark famous for its extraordinary design. Located on Metro Line 2, the train passes directly through the sixth to eighth floors of a residential building, creating a fascinating blend of city life and modern engineering. Visitors can watch the train glide through the structure from a nearby viewing platform, an iconic scene that perfectly captures Chongqing’s reputation as a “mountain city.”
The station has become a popular photo spot and symbol of the city’s creative urban planning Later in the day, board your luxurious 5* Century Oasis cruise ship, ready for the start of your unforgettable Yangtze River journey. DAY 10: YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE
Begin your day with a refreshing Tai Chi session on deck, harmonizing body and mind as you embrace the tranquil river surroundings. Following this rejuvenating experience, indulge in a delicious buffet breakfast, setting the tone for an exciting day ahead. Later, embark on a shore excursion to the intriguing Fengdu Ghost City, a fascinating site steeped in mythology and folklore, where you’ll explore ancient temples and sculptures dedicated to the afterlife.
After returning to the ship, enjoy a hearty lunch. In the afternoon, engage in a variety of cultural activities onboard, immersing yourself in the rich traditions of the region as the ship continues its journey along the majestic Yangtze River. As the sun sets, savour another delightful buffet dinner, taking in the stunning views from the deck as the cruise sails onward.
In the evening, you attend the War Fire of the Three Kingdoms Show. After the show, unwind with midnight snacks available on board. Overnight on the Yangtze River Cruise.
DAY 11: YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE
After breakfast, you have the opportunity to partake in a range of engaging activities on board. Later, the ship will navigate through the breathtaking Qutang and Wu Gorges, renowned for their dramatic landscapes and towering cliffs that rise majestically from the river. As you glide through these natural wonders, take in the serene beauty and the rich cultural history that surrounds you, often referred to as the “jewels of the Yangtze.”
Lunch on board. In the afternoon, embark on a shore excursion to the enchanting Shennv Stream, where you’ll be captivated by the lush greenery and tranquil waters. This serene environment is perfect for leisurely walks and experiencing the natural beauty of the region. As the day comes to a close, return to the ship for a delightful dinner accompanied by evening entertainment, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Yangtze region. DAY 12: YICHANG – SHANGHAI
After breakfast, disembark in Yichang and embark on a fascinating visit to the world-renowned Three Gorges Dam Project. This engineering marvel is not only the largest hydropower project in the world but also an impressive feat of modern architecture, showcasing the innovative spirit and ambition of China.
As you explore, you’ll learn about its significance in flood control, power generation, and its profound impact on the Yangtze River region. Following your visit, transfer to the train station for your high-speed train journey to Shanghai, a city that seamlessly blends rich history with futuristic development.
Upon arrival, settle into the luxurious 5*Marriott Marquis City Centre hotel, where you can unwind and prepare for the adventures that await you in this vibrant metropolis.
DAY 13: SHANGHAI
Breakfast and today, immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of cosmopolitan Shanghai. Start your day at the serene Jade Buddha Temple, a tranquil sanctuary housing two magnificent jade statues of Buddha, each intricately carved and exuding a sense of peace. This temple offers a glimpse into the spiritual side of the city, surrounded by beautiful gardens and traditional architecture. Next, wander through the enchanting Yu Garden, a classical Chinese garden renowned for its exquisite landscaping, ornate rockeries, and traditional pavilions.
Adjacent to the garden is the bustling Yu Market, where you can browse local handicrafts, snacks, and souvenirs, truly capturing the essence of Shanghai’s cultural heritage. Visit the Shanghai Tower, the tallest building in China. Ascend to the observation deck for breathtaking panoramic views of the cityscape, a stunning sight as day turns to night. Stroll along the Bund, Shanghai’s iconic waterfront promenade, where historic European-style buildings stand in contrast to the modern skyline of Pudong across the river. This area is perfect for soaking in the city’s unique blend of old and new.
DAY 14/15: SHANGHAI - MALTA
Enjoy a final breakfast at your hotel. Later transfer for the airport for your flight back to Malta, filled with unforgettable memories of your adventure through China.
